Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic

Facilities Management

This position works under the direction of the Chief Engineer.\


Responsibilities:

Maintains and repairs:

   Boilers and accessories

   Compressors

   Fans, motors and filters

   Domestic and commercial refrigeration equipment

   Ice makers

   Pipe lines (fuel, air, heating/cooling water, refrigerant)

   Thermostats

Maintain and repair pnuematic control systems.

Tests and treats boilers, heating and cooling water systems.

Troubleshoot systems using schamatics or blueprints.

Maintains daily log of equipment temperature readings, etc.

Operate and maintain Energy Management System.

Makes recommendations for repairs or replacement of equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

 HVAC experience or training course certificate and ability to work at apprentice level.

EPA certified.

Ability to arc and gas weld, including sweat and silver solder.

Available for emergencies, as necessary, and willing to accept and execute any assign-

    ment within Facilities Management.  May require work on weekends.

Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and to move heavy items.

Valid California drivers license and employment is subject to driving record meeting the

    standards of the CalArts insurance carrier.

Upon offer of employment, must take and pass a physical examination.

Willing and able to be test fit for respirator apparatus.

High school graduate or high school proficiency.
