Moving Image Collection

The collections consist of film, video in various formats, DVD and laserdisc that support the curriculum of all six CalArts Schools. The collections include more than 30 years of CalArts faculty and student works that illustrate artistic output in all media, as well as a large number of works of animation, experimental and independent film, and film history classics.

Access and Borrowing

To find items in the moving image collections use the online Library Catalog. See Access Policies for information regarding the use of this collection.

Bijou Theater

The Division of Library and Information Resources manages the campus film theater, the Bijou.

Requests for Purchases

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to make requests for additions to the collections. You can use the online Purchase Request or fill out a Purchase Request form available next to Film Services Library Catalog computers or in the handout rack in the main Library. All requests are considered.

Copyright

The U.S. copyright law (Title 17, United States Code) governs the performance and display of copyrighted motion picture or audiovisual works. All materials in the Library's moving image collections are copyrighted. Use not specifically permitted or exempted by the copyright law is prohibited. Duplication without the written permission of the copyright owner is illegal. Individuals not complying with copyright restrictions may be liable for infringement.
