Technical Direction Program

BFA, MFA

 

Designed to strike a balance between technology, management and aesthetics, the Technical Direction Program provides professional training for those students who wish to contribute to theatrical productions in both technical and artistic areas.

 

Coursework covers history, literature, graphics, crafts, construction, production techniques, and management. Students in this program also investigate the uses of computers and other digital technologies in the performing arts.

 

Technical Direction Specialization: Properties Design and Management

MFA level only

 

Offered under the MFA Technical Direction Program, this specialization focuses on the wide range of skills needed in both creative and organizational areas of prop applications for theater, film, television and theme parks.

 

This course of study helps to guide the individual development of each student through practical process applications in School of Theater productions, professional development workshops, and additional work in stagecraft, scene painting, puppetry, management, critical studies and design.
