Reserves Policy
Materials designated as Course Reserves are for library-use only and can be checked out for 2 hours at a time. Course Reserve lists are created at the beginning of each semester and reflect current course offerings. Faculty may request course reserves by emailing the Access Services Librarian or by using the Reserve Request forms (links can be found in the center column on this page).
The library is open during the month of August and this is the best time to submit Course Reserve requests to guarantee availability by the beginning of the Fall semester. Requests should be received at least 5 working days in advance of assignments to allow for processing time. This processing period is especially critical during the first six weeks of each semester. Requests are date/time stamped as received and processed strictly on a first come, first serve basis.
Instructors' personal copies of materials may be placed on reserve in place of, or in addition to, library owned materials.
All reserve materials will be removed from the reserves lists and re-shelved in the general collection or returned to the faculty member at the end of each semester. Course Reserve lists may roll over from Fall to Spring by faculty request if the course is being taught again in Spring. Reserve items will not be held over the summer if the faculty member is not teaching during that time.
