Borrowing a Laptop

CalArts students in good standing may borrow a laptop from the Main Library Circulation desk. The loan period will be 21 days, with the possibility of two renewals. Laptops may be recalled after the initial loan period, depending on demand. Laptops must be returned when due, or students will be billed the replacement cost.

Requirements:

Students must complete the CalArts Library Computer Borrowing Agreement and submit it to the Main Library Circulation Desk. Students may email the signed agreement to libcirc@calarts.edu before coming to the Library to pick-up the laptop.

Students will be liable for any damage to the laptops, up to a replacement cost of $1,500. Students are responsible for returning all parts (laptop, charger, cable, bag) and will be billed for lost components.

Late Laptop Procedure:

When a laptop is 14 days overdue, IT will remotely lock the laptop. The laptop will remain locked until it is returned. Retrieval of files after the computer has been locked must be coordinated with IT. An overdue laptop will result in the library account being blocked until the laptop is returned.

If any equipment is not returned within 14 days of the due date, it will be considered lost, and the borrower will be charged with the replacement cost of the equipment.
