CalArts Special Collections & Institute Archives

The CalArts Library’s Special Collections & Institute Archives department houses collections of rare and unique materials of enduring cultural and historical value in support of research and art making by scholars, artists, students, and the general public.

Parking on campus is free. Special Collections and the Institute Archives are located in the library, on the 2nd floor of CalArts' Main Building.

THE ARCHIVES WILL BE CLOSED:

March 27-31, 2017 FOR SPRING BREAK

MAY 1- AUGUST 31, 2017 FOR RENOVATION

If you have a reference question, want to view or have digitized copies made of archival materials, please fill out the Institute Archives Request Form

Book a viewing appointment here after submitting the above application form and receiving a confirmation email from the archivist. Viewing is by appointment only and hours may vary depending on availability.

Viewing hours:

Monday-Friday (September-May)

Monday-Thursday (May-August)

9:30am-4:00pm


Special Collections: 

Please search our CalArts Library Catalog for Special Collections materials. To view an item, please give the item's call number to a Circulation Desk staff member who will retrieve the item for you.

Monday - Friday 8:45am - 5:00pm
