The JJ Adkisson Collection was donated by Anne and Jonathan Adkisson and family to honor their son JJ, a former CalArts Graphic Design student. The collection consists of visual art and design titles. Many books were resources for his projects in his graphic design studio and theory classes in his BFA 1 and 2 years. The collection will continue to serve as a valuable resource for students in the program. The collection bookplate was designed in his honor by his classmates in summer 2016.
In addition, the Adkisson family also set up The JJ Adkisson Memorial Scholarship Fund, a merit based award for exceptional young artists in the Graphic Design BFA Program.
JJ's family also donated funds to renovate the BFA 3 design studio, undertaken by Los Angeles based architects TOLO. The JJ Adkisson Design Studio was dedicated January 27, 2023.
