Master's Theses Guidelines & Templates

Formatting + Printing

Scores + Parts

Please use the appropriate Title Page Template when preparing and submitting your score(s) and parts.  This template should be used and included in both your electronic and hardcopy submissions.  If your work features a unique title page which falls outside the standard formatting conventions of the Library’s Title Page Template, you should still customize the Template and include it as part of (and embed it into the electronic file of) your score, to create a complete document / single PDF file.

The title page for each score (and each part, if applicable) should include, in the following order:

  • Title of work
  • Composer
  • Instrumentation
  • Publisher (if applicable)
  • Thesis submission verbiage (see title page templates)
  • Year of graduation

NOTE:  Please print hardcopies on paper that is at least 25% cotton, 20 lb paper.  Hardcopy submissions of scores and parts may be spiral bound, stapled, etc.

For audio and video recordings, please submit 2 hardcopies on CD (audio) or DVD (video):

  1. One copy for the Library (access copy)
  2. One copy for the Institute Archives (preservation copy)

Please include the following information on the cover of each copy:

  • Name
  • Title of work
  • Recording date
