Please adhere to these Spring 2021 thesis/work sample submission procedures. Note that you must submit your thesis material/work sample(s) along with a Submission Checklist and a Thesis Submission Agreement by completing the steps below, in the following order:
ATTN: Performing Arts Librarian
24700 McBean Pkwy
Valencia, CA 91355
Opportunities to schedule an in-person submission of hardcopies will be available after the CalArts Library officially reopens. Please check this page for updates during the 2021-2022 academic year.
NOTE: If your documents/files are too large to submit electronically, you may submit your electronic copy on a CD/DVD or another appropriate media storage format. File-sharing services such as Google Drive or Dropbox are also encouraged, when/if possible. Email email@example.com with questions.
If your document submission is an Artist Book, or contains a work that cannot be bound, you will still be submitting a bindable description/representation of your work as part of your thesis project. The non-bindable work will go into the CalArts Library’s Artist Book Collection for preservation, and the bound thesis/work sample(s) will serve as an access copy. Please see the Formatting + Printing Guidelines page for details.
NOTE: These files and templates are provided in “Portrait” orientation, by default. Please change to “Landscape” orientation if this reflects how your score / material should be printed.
These forms will be sent via Docusign to your CalArts email:
Please use these templates when formatting + submitting your work:
Due to the pandemic-related campus restrictions, binding of theses will not resume until Spring 2022, at which point submissions from 2020, 2021, and 2022 will be bound accordingly. Beginning in Fall 2021, personal bound copies of theses can be requested, with payment being made through the Accounting Office. Please refer to the Institute's Coronavirus Information and Updates page for information regarding current campus operations.
If you would like your own personal bound copy of your thesis, please download the Thesis Binding Form, fill it out, and submit it -- along with a receipt of payment from the Accounting Office, as an attachment -- to firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that the binding of theses can take several months, even under normal circumstances, and there may be additional delays in light of pandemic-related disruptions.
