Bijou Theater

Due to the measures put in place by the Institute to protect the CalArts community and prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the CalArts Library’s physical spaces are closed until further notice. Film & Image Services is currently operating at a limited capacity. Contact us for more information.

The Bijou Theater seats 120 and may be scheduled for classes and some non-class use. The School of Film/Video uses The Bijou as their primary film and media projection classroom.  It may also be scheduled for:

  • Classes requiring media projection
  • Visiting artist / filmmaker screenings & presentations
  • Classes, special events or meetings for groups larger than 50
  • Faculty, student, staff screenings
  • Screenings of Alumnx work              

Individuals who schedule screenings outside of class use take full responsibility for acquiring the appropriate permissions or license from the copyright owner. Please see our Copyright Policies for more information.

Schedule & Fees

Class Use 

The Bijou can be scheduled for a single or semester-long class.  

Non-Class Use 

The Bijou can also be scheduled on a case-by-case basis for non-class use including visiting artist lectures, meetings, individual screenings, etc.

Fees help support projectionists pay, supplies, equipment, facilities maintenance and upgrades.
